If you are playing along with Judy LaQuidara's 2011 Monochromatic Challenge then you know that the color for January was Yellow.
I now have my yellow quilt all finished. it's not very big...but finished is better than big. it 48x48. kid size. i used stuff from the scrap box and selvage box. i think i will do selvages on all the quilts for the year if i can. will considerably cut down on the selvage boxes.
What do you think?
Here is a closeup. i like the selvages with the fuzzy edges...like the one in the top right corner...can you see it? these really go so fast that you can piece this many blocks in a couple nights.
I used 3 different yellows for the background parts and didn't plan the placement of them. it was truly a quickie. but i like it and think it turned out cute. and it got a quick panto for quilting and it is done.
The backing is another piece of Aunt Sophie stuff. i think in it's former life it was a sheet.
I think if this quilt had a name it would be Drunken Geese....they are flying every which way. LOL
Now i can hardly wait for next month's color...which will be pulled on Jan. 31.
Wow, that was fast! It's very cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it Shirley!
ReplyDeleteHi Shirley, I really like it. Drunkard Geese is a great name. Love the zig zag down the centre column and all the soft yellows make it look nice and warm. Christine D

ReplyDeleteVery Cute and Very Clever! One day, I will use up some of my saved selvages. Perfect name -- it is fun reading all the names we have given our Yellow projects.

ReplyDeleteI love the name and the quilt is so fun. I think stash pulling has worked well for you. :)
ReplyDeleteShirley, Your yellow quit is real cute. I too love to incorporate selvages into my scrap quilts. I have one started with green selvages so hope I don't finish it before Judy pulls green. (ha ha, no chance of finishing early). Dar in MO
ReplyDeleteI like your string blocks. How clever! And your title fits perfectly. Love it!
