Funky I Spy

I saw this pattern in a magazine....it was called Crooked Cabin. i thought...that is cute....i can do that.

Here is my version....i called it Funky I Spy

It was pieced April 25, 2014....it almost waited a year for me to quilt it.

This was a fun, quick quilt.

Size is 51 x 55".  I have just about used up all of that border fabric now....just have a few blocks of animals left. 

Thread was a dark yellow gold Glide for the top and a dark green So Fine for the bobbin.

 Quilted with my 4" clamshell boards from Quiltazoid. i about forgot i had those. i was looking at the boards...trying to decide which one to use....and found them.  i also have the 2" clamshells.

Now I'm done for a bit...till i get back from the Duck next week.

Merry Mayhem Case #136

Has anyone done the Merry Mayhem mystery quilts?  this one was from New Years Day, 2014.  and was my UFO #10 .... i had pieced all of the HST blocks but only about half of the 9 patches. i pulled it out of UFO status about 3 weeks ago and finally got it all together.

It came out to be 62 x 74"

There were just 2 different blocks....i made 80 all told.

Now it is off to marinade a while until quilting.

Spring Greens

Another one out of the TBQ cabinet. i call it Spring Greens because it looks like all the greens that are popping out now on the trees, bushes and flowers. 

It was pieced August 13, 2014...so i didn't wait too long for quilting. 

It is 50 x 66".  i keep quilting up the smaller ones...by the end of the year all i'll have is the giant quilts left to do and be all depressed. haha

It is quite simple to make....rows of single blocks......background strips between each row.

Back is part of a wide back that i had left from something else.  binding is leftover parts of different greens that i had.

Thread was a wild veriagated neon lime green and dark forest green. don't know the brand...cone doesn't say. (got it from Riley).... bobbin was a bright green So Fine

I quilted it with boards from Quiltazoid.

Tumblers

Recently i got a new die for my AccuQuilt cutting machine .... the small tumbler...and decided it was time to give it a go. i cut various colors....21 for each row.....and assembled them with darks on the left and lights on the right.

A yellow line was all the same fabric

And sometimes i used more than 2 colors for a line. i was using up fat quarters and scraps.

I had considered putting some applique on the dark side....some sort of vine with flowers....but decided it was fine just as it is. hopefully, it will get quilted soon.

Comfort and Joy

This quilt was pieced in 2013...it was a quilt along with Judy Laquidera at patchworktimes.com  

I quilted for a lady a few years ago who paid me in bags and boxes of fabrics, batting, and various sewing things. there was a whole box of Christmas fabrics....and i am not much of a Christmas fabric kind of girl. so, i decided to use those up for this quilt. it is quite a mish-mash of fabrics. haha

Some of these faces are a bit strange...but, hey...it wasn't MY pattern. haha

There are quite a few buttons and beads here and there.

There were a lot of crows in this quilt pattern

I stitched the stars a bit differently

There were other little blocks, too. i tried to put some little picture in the log cabins.

Back is a dark red print

I used a panto for the borders

Thread was a gold Glide for the top and a pink So Fine for the bottom

Quilt is 64 x 80" 

4 Days of Graffiti work at the Duck

My plan is to graffiti the wall ..... on the inside....around my front door at the Duck.

Here is the before...

Here is the after i painted the design i wanted to use. my first thought was just to glue straight onto the wall. and after messing with that for an hour....decided that was not going to work. so, i cut out pieces of luan to approximate the size i wanted...glued onto that.....let it dry overnight....then attached it to the wall with glue and screws.

This is how much i got done in 4 days. this was SOOOO much fun...that is all i did.

I think the blue section is my favorite. i used letters to spell SEA....there are a lot of sea things ....fish, starfish, dolphin, turtle, etc.

This tree is a McDonalds toy. the trunk door lifts open and there is .... i guess....Ronald in there. the leaves swing open also and show a parrot and a monkey

My sister found this little robot for me at a thrift store. i left his arms unglued and they raise up and down

I could have stayed another week and kept on gluing.....but my dh would be down there looking for me. haha

I still do need to go back and put stuff in to cover where the colors meet. .... and cover the screws....and fill in around the electric plug.  there will be a small piece of trim next to the door that will seal off the side. but, overall, i think it turned out just as i envisioned it.

I did cut out the pieces of luan for the pink, white and yellow to go up the rest of that side and across the top. i brought those pieces home with me so i can glue them up and when i go back i'll just have to attach them to the wall.  

Will definitely be the funkiest house in the neighborhood.  haha     i have to go on the hunt for more graffiti stuff.....this uses a LOT of stuff. 

After gluing down the large pieces....then smaller pieces....then it takes hours to fill in the little spaces with buttons and beads.  but, oh so much fun.

Moonlight Cats

These cat blocks were machine embroidered; top was pieced April 9, 2013.  it is 60 x 68"

I used my Baptist Fan boards from Quiltazoid to quilt it.

That's all you get for the next week....i'm off to the Duck.  but i'm taking sewing projects with me for the evenings....so i might have a UFO or 2 pieced by the time i get back.
