Blue and White Friendship Quilt

This was made by my friend, Brenda.   she does awesome applique and there are MANY 3D embellishments and flowers and butterflies and such on here. it caused me headaches and stress.  She tells me she is putting it in 3 local shows....that didn't help the stress issues. i worked on it for over a month....but it is finally done.

front.jpg

All blue and white fabrics. this middle part caused pleats in the back. too bumpy to roll properly.

It is 100 x 100"

I had a limited area to quilt....due to fat embellishments....the thing that holds the ruler flat did not want to go under the rollers....i had fits.

But her flowers are so pretty.

Entryway Graffiti at the Duck

The entryway is a couple pieces closer to being finished..... i am a bit more than half way finished with this room.

This section has the barn and a barn yard filled with horses, cows, a goat and a mule. haha  and the farmer's garden.

left barn.jpg

left barn close.jpg

That was several nights work of gluing in all those green and brown pieces for the barn yard

left barn yard.jpg

I don't know if you are supposed to put horses and cows in the same pasture....but my barn yard has all the animals i had....haha....except i didn't put the sheep.

And the farmer plowed up a nice garden spot for his wife.

left farmers garden.jpg

And the farmer's wife snuck in a few flowers, too.

And the final piece got installed above the windows......just sky....with some clouds of sea shells.

And a giant bee....haha

my sister gave me a bag of sea shells....so some of the larger ones became clouds

Now i only have to do the final piece on the bottom left....under the barn....it will be a pond. and then there are 2 sections under the windows....part of the pond.....and probably some flowers.  it will be done soon.....well, maybe not SOON......but in a couple months.

More Office Graffiti at the Duck

I spent a couple of ..... hot ..... days at the Duck. and hung more awesome stuff on the walls of the office.

I found a set of dominoes in an arc shape. I glued them to a piece of canvas that was framed after i painted it green. and...this is the green that i painted the other 2 walls and ceiling of the office.

And i had a piece of foam background that i had used the alphabet letters for other graffiti. i couldn't bring myself to throw it away and finally came up with the idea to fill the spaces with different beads...after gluing the foam to a piece of framed canvas also.

Here are some of the things that i did.

I had all the alphabet letters except F....who knows what happened with that....so i substituted a little foam F...hardly noticeable....right?  haha

I got a bunch of large letters at a yard sale. i could not figure out what they had spelled out with them....but i got an important word in my life.

And scored a lot of old wooden blocks from an auction last week. i still have more of these for another section.

The dominoes sign was the top of a box that those dominoes came in.

Here are more of the large letters that i got. i still have an F and a Y.....they will just fill in a space somewhere else. and i have more of those little flags to hang up....they were key chains. they kept falling off the wall for some reason and didn't want to stick so i gave up on those for the time being. but i have enough of them to go all the way to the ceiling...about 62" all together.

And what a score these little letter squares were. when do you ever see both the upper and lower case letters these days. do they still teach that? i have the whole alphabet here and still have lots of letters left.

I worked all day on gluing stuff up...my fingers were really sore from that caulk gun. so, i took the time to hang a few things on the other walls....that i had painted an olive green.

My favorite piece....a jigsaw puzzle that i put together some time ago. i traced the shape on a piece of plywood and had hubby cut it out for me. glued it down and there we go.

I love this map

A find in an antique store....4 canvas 'stamps'.  they are about 10x12 inches. pretty cool

And another framed canvas...it says Aunt Bea's Antiques.  i seem to have a lot of framed canvas prints.

My picture taking is pretty shaky here...but you can tell who this feisty lady is. it's a metal sign commemorating when she became a stamp... found at an auction.

Another auction find....a metal sign.  reminds me of the recruitment posters....we want you. haha

That was my day on Sunday....i put in 11 hours gluing and hanging things up.  all fun

Office Graffiti at the Duck

Since i have to wait till i glue up more pieces to install for the porch graffiti, i decided to move on to the office.

Last time i was down there....when i forgot to take a photo...i painted 2 walls.  sort of an orangy.  i had almost a gallon of white and mixed in a pint of orange that i had left over from the dining room walls. don't want to waste paint. haha

paint color orange.jpg

First i put up some window trim.....using wooden rulers that i had saved for years. and using wooden yardstick for a divider line....sort of like a chair rail.

So far, i have 10 board games that i glued the pieces on them and attached them to the walls. i am graffiti-ing these 2 painted walls in this room.....about the top 2/3rds of them anyway.

This is the south facing outside wall.

And this is an inside wall that has the bathroom on the other side of it.... or it will be a bathroom some day. haha

games bath wall.jpg

Then i used my stash of blocks and letters and numbers to fill in the background. I had two large boxes of blocks and letters and numbers and it only filled about 1/10 of my space.  i still have a few left to use....but i will need LOTS more. haha

My sister thinks these Disney blocks are vintage...i just think they are cute. haha

Had i paid more attention when i glued up these letters....i could have had DUCK in the second row.

Once i got the games on the wall, i had to stay an extra day to work on the background pieces. my hand hurt bad when i was finished.....i used glue in a caulk gun and pulling that handle for each and every one of those little pieces really hurt after a while.

When i go down next time i am getting the paint for the rest of the room.....i'm thinking a dark green....maybe an olive or something like that.  i have lots of stuff to hang on the other walls.
