Woven - Peter Rabbit

Since I have discovered that I missed sending quilts to two of my cousin's grandbabies, this one got quilted up quickly. 

It is all flannel and 42x52"

I used Glide Celery for the top and So Fine dark green for the bobbin

I used a panto called Amaze Me by Urban Elementz

The back is a green flannel. it need to be a bit wider, so i cut it in half and inserted a strip of Peter Rabbit and it all worked out.

I'm going to quilt up another Woven for the other grandbaby. 

Another Rooster

I finally found time to fuse another rooster. If he was real, and mine, his name would be Mop Head. hahaha

I forgot to bring the pattern to compare, so you'll have to take my word that it looks pretty much like this.

This one had 49 pieces to it. I think the most pieces yet.

Those are some crazy feathers.

I Spy

My cousin has 5 children, 4 of them are married, 3 of them have children. She has 6 grandchildren (two sets of twins) all under the age of 3. She babysits for a set of twins every day. You might want to offer up a silent prayer for her. haha

Anyway, I was a bit behind in getting quilts to the babies, so I have 2 in the works. But, I decided she needed a quilt or two at her house to play with the babies when they come to visit.

So, I scrounged around and found enough bits and pieces to make an I Spy. It will be quilted as soon as i get the two new baby quilts finished.

The blocks got a border of dotted fabrics.

Lots of colors, so should keep a child's interest.

About half of the blocks have a 4" center and one border of dots

And some have smaller pics and have a couple of dotted borders

I had one little piece left...of some frogs....and decided to add bits and pieces of dots to make a long strip and it will go across the back...just a little surprise.

And I have an alphabet quilt i will send to her, too.  she is a former teacher so is all about teaching. these babies will know their alphabet and their numbers (in the I Spy) and colors.

And I used up more stash and had fun along the way.    win...win

String Theory

This is a simple quilt top, but it took me a bit to get it together. It is called String Theory and I found the pattern in a magazine.

It's a basic 9 patch...blocks are 20"

The strips with the bits and pieces were pieced as leaders and enders for the last several months. when i got enough of them, i would piece the block.

The middle piece is 4" finished and each additional round is 2" finished.  piece of cake.

Famous Buildings of the World ... paper pieced

This was my most ambitious paper piecing project ever, I think. But they certainly were fun to do. I finished piecing them on October 15, 2016 .... seems like just yesterday.

It is 67x81"

Here are some of the blocks. I did the wordage with my embroidery machine.

I made 42 of the blocks....but if memory serves....it seems there were about 50 blocks. but the ones i didn't do had teeny, tiny pieces....even more so than these.  The blocks are 6 1/2" finished.

I used a muslin for the back and my Quiltazoid Baptist Fan boards. Glide Cream for the top; Highlights Blue for the bobbin.

I still have more paper piecing projects that I want to create.....maybe soon. haha

Now, what do i do with this quilt....who wants a quilt with buildings on it? hahaha

Pennies From Heaven

My note says this pattern is by Gretchen Gibbons, 2010. Where I got it....i have no idea. haha  I finished piecing it this year....January. So, actually, it got quilted pretty quickly.  Perhaps because it is rather small....46x58"

It was hand appliqued in wool...which i love to do. The binding is the same fabric as the background in the center block.

The curvy edges got fused down first, then stitched down.

That little green in the middle of this flower has sparklies on it....and then it was all over everything. when i used that green again, i turned it over. haha

There were a few pieced blocks. 

The green background in the applique blocks is the same as the backing.

Why is it the pictures always make you doubt yourself? in the pics, it looks like i should have quilted the background, too. on the quilt, it looks ok. i WAS thinking of pebbling the background and then decided it was too much. haha   perhaps i should have.

I really like how the quilting shows on the back.

Threads used were Glide Celery, Sand, Jade and Cobalt for the top and Bottom Line Statue for the bobbin.

I'm keeping this one.

1847 Baltimore Bride's Quilt

This pattern is from Lake View Primitives. You don't normally see a quilt done on a black background, so i guess that is what intrigued me about this one. plus it is applique....it did it in wool felt.

The pattern...

The top. I changed it up a bit and put in some gray sashings. Black and gray are flannel.

And, some of the blocks....

Her pattern was 65x83"....mine came out about 68 x 91".

Now, the question is...what color to use to quilt it?   i know it won't be black....i'll never be able to see that.
