Flowers on 4 Patches

OK...this is where those flowers went that I cut out with the accu cut machine....and used the frames for the I Spy Flowers.

I finished piecing this in July, 2018, so it is a relatively 'new' top. haha  I saw the pattern somewhere in a magazine, but didn't keep the info.

Black and white prints made a lot of 4 patches. Then I fused and cut out a bunch of flowers in 2 different yellow prints.

The border was something from the stash. And, look...I didn't make the binding from leftovers this time. haha

It is hard to see the quilting from the front, but it shows better on the back.

This second pic of the back is a better representation of the pale yellow ....let's all say it together.....sheet from the thrift store. LOL

The design let me travel across the row and even quilt the borders as I went. It took me 3 days to do it, so my 'quilt a day' project came to an end. but i knew i couldn't do a panto here...i had to sew down those fused flowers well. but those b/w prints are hard on the eyes.....plus it got boring. it is 72x88.  top thread was Glide bright yellow and bobbin was Bottom Line Tan.

Tomorrow's quilt is also a bit larger, but it will be a panto, so i hope to get it quilted in a day.

It's so wrong!

This morning, while looking for a pair of socks in the sock drawer.....I find that mice have, once again, been into my sock drawer. I lost 6 pair of good wool socks...all chewed up for a nest. why can't they just chew up one pair instead of making holes in 6 pair. i gained 5 dead baby mice. that is just not right.

I put mice poison out under the chest of drawers, and they bring it up into the sock drawer. why don't they eat it and die. they are laughing at me.

We have put out peppermint oil, which is supposed to repel mice. I have some right next to that chest of drawers.

How do you keep mice out of your sock drawer?  I need to know. haha

Maybe I need to quit buying wool socks.

I Spy Hexies for sale....

Anyone interested in some I Spy pieces in a hexie shape. I have over 1000 of them.  There are more different designs than you can imagine...food, halloween, dolls, animals, cartoons, hershey's kisses, fireworks, fish, gambling, etc. I didn't cut them out....got them in a truckload deal. I have sorted them all out tonight and created 'kits'.

I have 6 sets of 150 each....$5 each set plus $2.50 postage      they are all different, but a few might be the same fabric line, but a different picture....for example, a bear with a red sweater....and a bear with a green sweater. or 2 different people from the same line....like an Elmo and a Cookie Monster. To be clear.....each set has different pieces, but if you get 2 sets, you will get duplicates.

I have 1 set of 100....$3.50 plus $2.50 postage.  No duplicates, but some from same line.

I have 1 set of 75 .... $2.50 plus $2 postage    there are more from same line but different pictures.

I have 1 set of 50 .... $2 plus $2 postage.  there are more from same line but different pictures.

If you have questions, just give me a holler. Email is brunerwoman@yahoo.com   I accept PayPal.

I probably have over 100 more, but there is only about 20 different ones....lots of duplicates. if you have a use for these, just let me know.

The lady that cut these out drew the shape with a pen and some of the hexies have this mark on the edge. I just trimmed mine off when I sewed them down. If you are going to set them in the normal way, all together, like a grandmother's flower garden, then it won't matter....the marks will be in the seam.

I used some to make this quilt.

I Spy Flowers top finished

I had to sew this together twice.....when i got all 9 rows together, i discovered i had 5 of them going the wrong direction, so had to take it all apart and start over. i hate doing that, but it was a color block thing and i wanted it in the right orientation. maybe i'll learn. haha

It's 54 x 66

The border is a print from the Dick and Jane collection. i was looking in the stash for something with the primary colors in it and this is all i had.

I think it turned out pretty good.

I have enough of these hexies to make many more quilts.

I'm going to organize all the hexies and see how many different ones there are. i am thinking of making some kits and selling them. anyone interested in I Spy hexies....just let me know.

Chickadee Chatter

Here is block 5 of the Spirit of the Northwoods quilt.

This block had the middle section as one piece rather than a 'sky' and 'ground'.

I still struggle with those HSTs. her directions use 1/8 measurements and they never seem to come out well for me.

It is coming along well, though.

Butterflies Abound

But....maybe i should call it my Christmas quilt. hahahaa   I spent a few hours this morning in the studio and quilted this up....now i have to go work on food.

This was pieced 3 years ago, on November 26, 2015. It is 72x84.

front.jpg.695d615de32941dd3915c808c4f06042.jpg

I used a panto called Star Swirl

I used Glide Cobalt for the top and Bottom Line Tan for the bobbin. neither shows up a lot.

Another soft sheet from the thrift store for the back.

The rest of the day will be geared toward food. haha   tomorrow i start getting on that exercise equipment and walking the dog.

I Spy Flowers

I got another idea and had to cut some stuff out and fuse some stuff....and piece one block. haha
When you cut pieces with the accu cut machine, there are usually more scraps than I am comfortable with throwing away. So, I saved these pieces.....the flowery cut out parts will be on a quilt that you will see in a couple days. haha  there are about 80 of them or so.

leftovers.jpg.8c1c6cc1423add76c8307fae87c78815.jpg

When you look at the back, there is fusible on there. so, i trimmed them down to a 5" square...

961170484_fusibleonback.jpg.04f5bff0afed458e345191bb18d829fd.jpg

And cut some solid colors to a 6 1/2" square......

1229416346_blockscut.jpg.c5ab61401c88b4c60d3465abd1a8bb55.jpg

In a truckload of stuff I got a few weeks ago, there were hundreds.....probably thousands of I Spy hexies cut out. I am not fond of hexies. and there might have been just one of some designs....but a dozen of other designs. most all of them were multiples. this old lady must have planned on making dozens of I Spy quilts.

hexies.jpg.dba841d2c2203f0b5756334b7b33c587.jpg

So, I made a plan.....don't you love it? haha

pattern.jpg.551b6a5246cff2304a60c6560576277c.jpg

I fused the 5" cut out part to the 6 1/2" colored square and sewed an I Spy hexie in the middle. Viola!!   one block.....only 66 more to go. haha

1373961388_finishedblock.jpg.4837c02c863806b4423ff6b26ec958a0.jpg

Sometimes I wish my brain would quit coming up with new ideas. I always have to stop whatever i'm doing and get things together and make a block so i'll remember what I planned to do with pieces in a box. I need about 12 or 20 worker bees to each take an armful of boxes and sew up all these cool ideas in boxes. hahahahaha
