Yesterday revisited

Ahhh...yesterday.  today it is just a distant memory....well, almost. i DO remember how tired i was. LOL

But i did you a disservice by not sharing pictures of what i had accomplished....so i have come to apologize for that and make it up to you with pics today of the fruits of my labor.

I quilted 2 of these small quilts together with pottery blocks and Indian women fabric on top and bottom

They are about 45x60....the backing looks like this....binding will be the backing fabric.

Then i did another with the same pottery blocks but put a different Indian fabric on the top and bottom and it got a bit larger.

The backing on this one is a salmon colored fabric with bits of color that reminds me of an aztec type design.

Then there was a beach quilt....it was larger...with more blocks..about 50x70.  this one has the same backing as the one above...they were quilted together.

There were Victorian Santas that i never figured out what to do with.....so they all stayed together and became a kids quilt.

It was about 50x60 and the back was just a red that i had on hand...nothing whatsoever to do with santas. and this one got quilted by itself.

Country kids like deer....so here is one for them.

Quite a bright green in those corners....but it matches the grass inside the blocks. the back of this one got a flannel with camping signs...seemed appropriate.

That one got quilted by itself, too. there didn't seem to be anything else to go with it that i could quilt 2 at a time. and i couldn't resist this for the binding. LOL

And, finally, 2 of these kitties...both just alike...quilted together.  about 40x50

So, there you are....proof that i actually worked yesterday. LOL but now the binding pile is huge once again. well, they won't get any binding on them today. i have other plans for today.

These were all quilted with a large meander that went very quickly. from the time i got them loaded till i took them off was about an hour for each set. it took longer to load than it did to quilt. and i used lots of batting sections, too. between the tops, backs and bindings i used up 20.5 yards of fabric....not bad for a day's work.

On to more stashbusting....as much fun as the law allows.

Cabin Cats #4 .... Stripes

This one is all quilted and has the binding, too. how about that!!  actually, the reason it is quilted already is because it was pieced on the longarm....and since i had it on there....it got quilted, too. very quick.....a few hours project.

You know...when you lay something out on the table...it looks one way....once you take a photo of it....it looks different. i think i should have used that very light fabric in place of the blue. but so many of these fabrics are dark and the blue was just so cheery .... but the light looks out of place. oh, well...hindsight.

This is so simple...all you do is cut strips however wide you want them...across the width of the fabric....and stitch them down...one after the other.

And remember to add the borders at the top and bottom....and add side borders as you go down...after stitching down a couple strips.  easy-peasy and quick.   i like quick and easy....i keep repeating myself...don't i? LOL

And to repeat myself once again...the quilting was done with the Quiltazoid...my go-to number 1 first choice. this design is SOOOo fast and SOOoo easy.  gotta love   www.quiltazoid.com   

This little beauty is 50 x 66" and used 3.25 yards of fabric. running real short on a couple of the fabrics....and have lots of selvages and pieces. so you know the LAST Cabin Cats will be a selvage and strips quilt.

OK...it will be a few days before Cabin Cats #5 makes an appearance.  first off...i have to figure out what to do...but, most importantly, i have to get the borders on the wedding quilt and quilt that baby up. that will be my last thing on my March to-do list. woohoo!!...then i can play (more) LOL 

Somewhere around the 25th or 26th i will be heading out to the Duck for 3 days of demolition...really looking forward to that. i will bring back some pictures to show you my destruction.

Baby quilt all finished...awaiting a baby girl

Some friends of ours are expecting a baby girl the end of April. i have the quilt all ready.

Sure hope babies really like bright colors because this one is definitely bright. perhaps i should send baby sunglasses, too. LOL

The fabrics came in a kit that i got some time ago and never put together. they seemed just perfect for this baby quilt....so when i make the other pattern i will need to find different fabric.

The backing is from Wilma's sale at www.christianlanequilters.com    ....she has a sale a couple times a year to clear out end of bolt pieces. these fabrics are 108" wide and various lengths. i love that sale. gives me the opportunity to get lots of backing fabrics for my smaller quilts without have to piece fabrics. she calls them FatBacks....perhaps you have heard of them. you get 3 1/4 yd for a 3 yd price. Wilma is the best!!

I used a King Tut bright variegated thread for the top but it doesn't really show....but it was an opportunity to use up some thread that might be hard to use otherwise. and i used the Baptist Fan template from www.quiltazoid.com  for the quilting pattern. gotta love the Quiltazoid folks...Adam and Linda. they are so friendly and helpful.

Yeah....i know....i have it upside down. too lazy to turn it before snapping the pics. i guess you could stand on your head. LOL

Unless they get a surprise and pop out a boy....i am ready for the baby to be born.....i imagine Kelly is more than ready, too.  and big sister, Abby, is probably beside herself waiting for a playmate.

Perhaps i need to have a boy quilt ready, too.....just in case.
