I'm in eBay

I'm in the eBay world these days. there is free listing for 3 days....and today is the last day....i have been taking advantage.

But I'm here to tell ya....eBay is HARD. it is tiring. it gives me a headache. but it is fun.

It takes hours to organize items, take pictures, download pictures, and then do the listing. in the first day i only got 10 items listed.

In 2 days so far i have listed 22 items. have sold one of them and have a bid on another. mostly people wait till the last day to bid so the bidding doesn't go up too high. i just start my bids usually with the price that i want for an item....then if it goes up more than that....it is just gravy.

I am trying to clear quilts out of the studio. they are piling up rather badly. but people just don't want to pay good money for a handmade quilt...don't know why that is. but i do sell very reasonably i believe.

I am also offering scrap boxes of fabric. these go very well every time. i clear fabrics off my shelves that i no longer want or will never use and add bits and pieces that are in the scrap boxes. i stuff a medium size USPS flat rate box. people seem to like this. you get many different fabrics for applique and scrap quilts at a very reasonable price.

And more of the Aunt Sophie inheritance is finding its way onto eBay, too. i keep coming upon more boxes of fabric, tops, embroidery, etc. i usually put these things into lots with a very good price on it. i do sell a lot of her unfinished tops and many blocks. if you get enough of them...you can take all the pieces apart and make your own scrap quilt. i have just sold a package that has thousands of 3 inch blocks.

In 2011 i stashbusted over 500 yards of fabric out of my studio and quilted many, many tops and either sold or donated them. this year i plan on doing more and finishing up all those many UFOs. after my death i don't want there to be truckloads of 'stuff' to find a new home like Aunt Sophie's stash. i do love that i got my AS inheritance but i don't know who would want mine. LOL

If you think you might be interested in looking at what is for sale....go to eBay and search for me...my seller name is shimmymom

Gotta go...eBay is calling me

Sweet baby quilt top

Well, it's not officially a quilt yet.....but it is a top.

While digging through fabric to donate i found some pink flannel. at first i put it in the box to donate. there was plain pink and some pink with tiny roses. then i found a charm pack that i thought would go with the pink. so i dug the pink flannels back out of the donation box and put this together last night.

It's a bit small....only 42x47.....but for a newborn it might be just the thing to wrap up with.

There were only 2 plain yellow blocks left and i threw them in the scrap yellow box.

I still have a bit of the pink roses flannel left. not enough for the backing...but i kept it anyway in the hopes i could add something to it and use it for the backing when i quilt it.

It is all flannel except for the charm squares....it will be nice and cozy.

I'm off to add more quilts to eBay today. i managed 14 of them yesterday. if you are in the market for a quilt go to ebay and check them out. my seller name is    shimmymom

Today was eBay day

I decided today i should stop talking about it and start doing something about it.

I have wanted to get my quilts out on eBay for some time....the studio is filling up. I am keeping everything in plastic tubs to keep the mice out and I'm running out of plastic tubs. this is experience talking.

I started at the studio at 8am....good for me....these days i might not even be up by then. and i worked till 4:30. i got 14 quilts listed. all shapes and sizes....from $20 to $400. hopefully i can sell a few and buy a few more windows for the Duck.

It's been a while since i sold anything on eBay so there was a bit of a learning curve on the picture insertion. they changed things a bit. i had to go and resize my pics first and then fight their system to get them to upload. but it finally turned out ok and i was successful.

I took pictures of a few more before i left for the day. i think tomorrow will be another eBay day. couldn't hurt. i have some embroidery CDs to put out there and a few other things.

If you are inclined to take a look....look for seller   shimmymom   that's me.

Since i basically sat on my butt all day i spent 30 minutes outside stacking some firewood for hubby so he'll be ready for the snow and he can start up his wood heater. we got frost this morning for the first time.....so colder weather is not far behind.

Gonna go rest up now.

I'm tired of nature

Most days i like 'living off the land' .... gardens and fruit trees.....blackberries and persimmons and black walnuts. but today i am officially done with nature. no more picking black walnuts and hulling them. hence...no more black fingers.  i have great respect for the folks in the 'good ole days' who toiled all day every day just to get food on the table to feed their families. at least i don't have to go out and shoot game for dinner.

I have 2 containers of persimmons in the freezer...enough for this winter's breads and cakes and cookies. enough walnuts to crack for several years.

I got rid of the chest freezer in the barn. we never kept it full and it was old and not energy efficient. it will be replaced with a new, smaller model. there was corn on the cob in there from 2007. and loads of green beans and banana peppers. we always seem to freeze veggies and then forget they are in there. the new rule around here is no freezing of veggies. a friend bought the old freezer for her son so it has a life elsewhere for a while.

I believe today will be an eBay day. i have loads of quilts that are taking over my studio and i need to get them sold. hopefully today i will get a large portion of them listed. if you're in the market for a new quilt go on over to eBay and give them a  look. might be something you like....Christmas is coming you know.  look for a seller called .... shimmymom .... that would be me. and just so we are clear....no, it does not mean i am a belly dancer....shudder....bad picture. LOL   it is the name of our last dog.

So, i need to go start my day. hope yours is fun.

eBay is my friend

In trying to bust my stash of older fabric that i no longer want....i am trying to think outside the box to get rid of it. i've given hundreds of yards away....but sometimes even your friends won't take some stuff. and i am on a mission to rid my studio of this old fabric. so i sorted in stacks; kids, animals, light florals, dark florals, misc. i listed everything, took measurements, and took pictures. i had 5 boxes ready to go. i put them on eBay last week and waited. but people don't usually bid until the last day or so. and today is my last day for these boxes. 4 out of the 5 have sold.

That is 80 yards going out.     80 yards.    i am so happy about that. it's like a cloud has lifted to see those empty shelves.  this was all good cotton fabric...just not the latest out there. shoot, some of it is probably 20 years old. but it will be going to live in someone's else's house and that just tickles me. i hope they make lots of great quilts and things.

i still have enough for 2 or 3 boxes but ran out of time. i will try and get those out there when i get back from the duck next week.

I am trying some hand applique on my Dear Jane blocks. so far, i have 2 of them finished.

There is B1.....just some circles....fairly easy and quick.

And this is B12   and bit more challenging but not bad.

That makes 10 i have done so far this month. i am taking more of the applique blocks with me to the duck so hopefully in the evenings i won't be too tired to work on them. i have the pieces all cut out and the blocks marked...ready to go. usually when i have worked out there all day i fall asleep about 8pm...LOL...sad, i know...but demolition is hard work. but maybe if i have something to keep busy with i will stay up at least till 10.

I'm leaving for the Duck tomorrow afternoon and won't be back till Sunday some time. hopefully with pictures to show you of some progress. i am hauling the riding mower on a trailer so i can cut the grass out there. i am having my push mower turned into an electric start...so when that is finished it will go to live at the duck. i am also going to measure the wall space in the living room and dining room so i can figure out how many boards i need to cover it. my friend, Judy, is sharing her old barn wood with me and i am going to put it on the walls.

See you on Sunday or Monday next week. try and stay dry and out of trouble.
