I hope to deliver it on Thursday...on my way to the Duck....and see her new 3 story Victorian house that she just moved into.

Owl

There are 16 animal patterns in the Quiltmaker magazines....from about 2011 through 2014.

But i started out with the Owl...he seemed the simplest. it's probably going to take me a while to do all of these...it will be an ongoing project. but they seemed too cute to not do them.

pattern.jpg

He got pieced in about 3 evenings. i didn't put the borders on it....i am thinking of putting a few of them together to make larger quilts. but i am keeping the patterns till i am all done with them....in case i decide to make them all baby size. i like the way his ears are one up and one down. haha

top.jpg

And, now that i have the pictures, i can see where i have a piece wrong in his head...i'm going to fix that.  sigh!!

I used a hand dyed piece of orange and the dark brown

Safari

This is a pattern that i bought at a quilt show....many years ago. it is by Debora Konchinsky and has 40 animals in it. I changed it up a bit and used the same fabric for all the backgrounds. I hand appliqued the animals onto the blocks and used wool felt. I finished piecing it on November 26, 2012 and it finally got quilted today.

pattern.jpg

It is 84 x 88

front.jpg

I did a freeehand mish-mash of quilting...swirls, lines, water, trees, whatever.

Dancing Nines ... pattern by Bonnie Hunter

Also known as UFO #33....yeah!....another UFO now becomes a TBQ.

Bonnie made hers considerably smaller than i made mine. hers had 16 blocks in it....i made 48.  but it turned into a strange size....78 x 102....probably needed another column. but, after 1,728  two inch squares....192 nine patches....enough is enough. haha

Here is her pattern. you'll notice i didn't put that last border on there.

pattern.jpg

It needs some ironing....maybe later. haha

top.jpg

I only had about half of the 9 patches finished when this became a UFO. took me 4 days to finish it up. I started piecing 9 patches on October 3, 2014. at least it didn't take a year to finish it up.

close.jpg

You made 9 patches and put a border on 2 sides. then rotated them and made a block like this.

block.jpg

It turned out rather cute i think. probably get some kind of curvy panto....at some point.
