White Madness II

All month I've been making white blocks....selvage blocks.....strip blocks....day after day after day. Finally......

This....

It is 72x84.....6 inch blocks set 12x14

This little cat came from my embroidery machine repair people. Whenever they repair the machine, they stitch this out to show you that the machine works. I have had several of them.

Just enough color so it isn't completely white and boring.

This little heart came from fabrics I got from my son.

A little Santa stitched all in white.

I have 25 white blocks left over....to be added to my huge pile of other blocks....to be incorporated into another quilt one day.

Now, I am done with white for the month...a few days early.  Next month is purple....I don't have too much purple, so July should be finished early, too.

Patriotic ABC

I added a border to this and then went ahead and got it quilted. Only took a couple of hours. SID around blocks and around some items in some blocks.

Square in a Square Halloween

I got it pieced together today....how's that for quick. haha   Of course, quilting it will be another whole story.

Just look at that wavy bottom. There are a lot of bias edges here...but, not to worry....it will quilt out. hahaha

The embroidery went quick with only one color....I like those kind.

Thanks to my cousin, who has an awesome Halloween stash, I had a good supply to choose from.

It's about 48x52

I have so many tops to be quilted, no telling when this one will get its turn.

Embroidered Halloween blocks

I was looking through a pile of old quilting magazines and found this Halloween quilt that I liked.

Here it is a little closer...

They are just square in a square blocks, with designs in the middle, so decided I could make one.

I embroidered my blocks. Right now they are just blocks on the design wall....haven't pieced them together yet. Deciding what kind of sashing and border to use.

Here are a few closeups....

They might be put into a box to wait for further developments later. haha

Orange Madness is quilted

I got this quilted a couple weeks ago....and just got the binding on it today. It is going to live at my sister's house.

It is all selvages. About 76x90"

I really do need to remember not to do a panto on these....with loose selvage edges, things just get folded over and i really don't like that. This was heavy and has lots of seams. I broke a needle along the way and had some thread issues on one row.

The back is a muslin. Panto is Bloomin' Feathers by Anne Bright.

Top thread was a dark yellow/gold by Glide; bobbin was Bottom line Taupe.

Color Go Round

In continuing with June's color of white....I used more selvages to make this little top. It is 54" square.

Each round has a different color on the edge...

And there are little surprises in the middle of each block

The selvages are finally down to a smaller pile. I'm still making blocks...and they might make another top, we'll see.   Should be finished with them in a few days.

Old Glory

This is part of my June White Challenge....a lot of white scraps used.

I found this pic on someone's blog, I think....I didn't write down where I found it....and I don't remember so I can't give credit, but I really liked it and made myself one, too. Here is their picture.

Here is my top....

It is about 60x72.

I didn't make it in time for Flag Day....but I'm early for the 4th of July. haha

White Madness

Another madness top for this month. In my white selvage box are mainly strips with lots of color. That doesn't seem to make sense....but it does.  When I cut the selvages, if there is a busy print and there is not a predominant color, and the background is white....then it goes in the white box. This happens for a lot of novelty prints.

That is how this became White Madness....

I don't know if you can tell from my pic, but from the top right corner down to the bottom left corner is a diagonal line of white crumb blocks. After it was all finished, I thought I should have put something around those blocks, like a thin black strip or something....oh, well, when you see the pic, you always get another idea.

Here are the diagonal blocks....

The blocks on the left of the diagonal are placed horizontally...

The blocks on the right of the diagonal are placed vertically....

I can still make quite a few blocks from selvages like these....but not enough for another quilt I don't think.

But, I am working on another top that is mainly white....like Yesterday's Toy Shop.

That box was stuffed with white selvages. It seems so strange to see the boxes becoming empty. haha

Yesterday's Toy Store

I finished piecing my first top for June White Challenge month. I have a LOT of white selvages. This went together pretty quickly.

I had 6 or 7 of each toy, so decided to put them in rows....like shelves in a toy store.

It's about 50x60

I tried to just use mainly plain white/ecru strips for this.

I have a lot of the fabric with the toys, so I might use that for the back also.

One down for the month.
