Frightened by a bag of M&Ms

Don't you just love that title? i would want to make this quilt pattern just for the title. The author says she accidentally dropped a bag of M&Ms on the quilt and she was afraid she would get chocolate on it. haha

This is the book the pattern came from. I have many years of these books....found at thrift stores for a dollar.

Here is the pattern

I have cut out my M&M circles...they have fusible on them and ready to go.

I have all the pieces cut out and marked as to what's what.

And, I put together one block. who knows when the rest of it will get finished. there are 20 blocks.

It's an easy pattern and very colorful. who knows, it might get pieced quickly.

Night Night book

I don't see that I have shown this here.....it's been done for a while....just needed to put the rings in to hold it together. since i am going to the city tomorrow and will see Jack's babysitter...my cousin....I figured I should take it with me. after all, Jack is now 6 months old and he needs his book. It is all fabric and felt...about 9" square.

I have about 5 more books to make....I better get after them or the kids will be too old to enjoy them. haha

Crazy Quilt Snowman Mittens

Continuing on with my crazy quilt theme, I am now doing mittens.....using snowman fabrics.

This is the original design.

This is what I am doing...

I am using all snowman fabrics and the same dark blue for the outline. Some of the spaces are small...on either side of the middle, so I think I will treat that as one space, since i have fabrics with larger designs that won't fit well into the tiny spaces. I am using various blues for the background. The blocks will be trimmed to 8x10". I am going to make 20 of them.

I have a lot of Santa fabrics, too and am thinking I will make a Santa crazy quilt something....once I find a design that I want to use.

The embroidery machine will be humming away for weeks.

But, tomorrow I go out of town once again to take care of my cousin who is now home from the hospital, so the emb. machine gets to rest for a week. haha

Crazy Quilt Halloween Pumpkins

These are done on the embroidery machine. This is what the original looks like.

I used all Halloween fabrics and skipped the embroidery designs except for the stitches on the seams.

I used a bright neon orange for the outside stitching on all of them.

I trimmed the blocks to 8".

There are 2 small spaces on the bottom of the pumpkin and I finally decided to use it as one space...like in this block below. but i still stitched the design over the seam.

For the seam stitches I used various colors....orange, gray, purple, green.

Once I start putting them together....this will be the sashing...

And this will be the border....hopefully.  there are a lot of cut pieces and i hope there is enough. I will be piecing the border together.

These are all scraps that I bought recently. I finally have it all sorted out, so you will be seeing lots of funky tops.

I plan on a...
.. Christmas crazy quilt with Christmas fabrics in a tree shape.
..Fall crazy quilt with leaves fabrics in a leaf shape
..Easter crazy quilt with Easter/spring fabrics in an egg shape
..Fourth of July crazy quilt something....hopefully in a flag shape.
..St Patricks Day crazy quilt something....hopefully in a 4 leaf clover shape.

and, who knows what else. i have sports fabrics....baseball; football; hockey; golf; fishing....and about a thousand others. haha

I Spy with Attitude

The month is getting away from me already....no quilting has taken place this month at all.

But, I am sewing up some stuff. I still have hundreds of hexies....so, I added some black triangles to the corners to make it a rectangle, and added a border of selvages. This fellow definitely has attitude. haha

I put black sashing between the blocks.

And added an attitude border.

It's about 46" square. It is bold and bright....lots of attitude.

August UFO Challenge Report

Not much quilting happened in August. I got the UFO for the month loaded about the middle of the month, and then promptly left home for the rest of the month. So, only 1 pass was quilted.

It is a BOM from JoAnns back in 2014. I am going to try and get it finished and off the frame this week.

At the beginning of the month, I did quilt a wedding quilt for a friend's daughter.

As usual, I did more piecing than anything else.

Offset Diamonds

Die Cut Dogs...this is one block. All the blocks are different browns and blacks, all the backgrounds are different yellows with dogs. Some dogs are facing the other direction.

Scrap Strips...this was pieced while I was on my dog sitting duty away from home. I used my cousin's scraps.

And, a close up of a block

Crazy Quilt Scraps

And, a block close up...these are done on the embroidery machine

St. Louis Cardinals HSTs...it is couch size. I might put a border on it with the brown. This was also pieced while I was at my cousin's, dog sitting.

Close up

And, I am working on this cat panel with hexies around it

I need to move them around so they blend into the panel

I have dog bones being done on the embroidery machine....I think I have 3 done so far. I am using dog scrap fabrics and brown thread. the background paws fabric is a flannel.

I also have started some crazy quilt hearts done on the embroidery machine...using pink fabrics on a purple flannel background.

Hopefully, I can stay home in September and get more accomplished. Don't know yet if that will work.
