Beach Walk by McKenna Ryan

I FINALLY got this thing all fused and put together. I've been working on it since last summer. It sure is a job to make McKenna Ryan's quilts but they turn out pretty.

There are soooo many pieces to cut and fuse. And several of them have pieces that cross boundaries over into the next section.

I think this block had the most pieces...all those hollyhock flowers.

And the jellyfish had the longest tentacles.

The sand castle with crabs was easy and fun. I think quilting will improve this block.

The fishing boat was a chore to get all those ropes in place.

The beach umbrellas was the easiest block. Those fishing buoys under them had a lot of tiny pieces.

The whale was pretty easy

I'm going to quilt this up soon. I don't want to fold it up and have the pieces start coming off. If not this month, then in February. I will probably hang it in the studio. It is 52x68"

I MIGHT add another border to it. I want to see if i have enough of the ocean fabric to use it. What I have left is rather chopped up, so we'll see.

Surprise Pocket Quilt top

Some time ago I collected about 50 mens shirts....and cut them all up. I cut various parts for different quilts. I cut out the pocket sections and decided to use some of them here. It is 40x48"

There are 7 pockets with a button or a flap. I am going to find little stuffed animals or dolls to put in there.

All of the blocks have pockets...I might fill some others, too.

I have a child in mind for this. I think it will be a cool idea to hide your toys away in your pockets.

If it is a nap time quilt, there might be more playing than napping. hahaha

Play Food

The embroidery machine is busy these days....making play food.

I am working on a cheeseburger....and so far have made....onion, tomato, lettuce and pickles.

Should have the rest in a few days.

Judy's Scrappy Challenge

Judy Laquidera  had a scrappy challenge in 2014...it ran from January through May. I finished piecing my top on March 3, 2015....and finally quilted it today. It is 61x72".  I am also participating in her UFO Challenge this year again and this is the #7 that she pulled for this month. 

It is truly scrappy...looks like i have everything in there. even the binding is scrappy.  

I believe, if I am remembering correctly, every month she gave us a block to do and told us how many to make.

The last month told us how to put it together.

I'm happy to get one more finished.

The back is a gray sheet from the thrift store.  Top thread was Glide Light Olive; bobbin was Bottom Line Taupe.

I used a panto called Plush by Lorien Quilting. One of my goals this year is to use every panto I have. That will be a challenge in itself....I have over 70 pantos. hahahaha  

Prairie Point Christmas Tree

I guess I'm really early for next Christmas. I had this sitting out since about October and just now got it done. I got the pattern from my friend when she showed it in a quilt show and I admired it. I actually drew it out so I could figure out how to do it and she just gave me the instructions. Said she went to a class at her guild.

It is 3 dimensional. In looking at the picture, it seems my tree is listing to the right. Apparently I didn't keep things straight. haha  hubby thinks that top point should be pointing up...he said it bugs him. I like that I had fabric with Christmas lights....now my tree has lights.

Here's a side view so you can see the points are just connected in the seam. It's a quilt as you go project. Once I started it, I finished it up in 2 evenings.  It is 32x36"

I used a stripe for the back.

My friend sewed little jingle bells at the tip of the points. I'm not sure I will do that. Depending on what you use for the points will determine how wild your tree turns out. 

New Project .... play food

This was my next embroidery project....play food....and I just found out that the twins that I am making this for received a play kitchen for Christmas. how cool!!  now I better get busy.

I making at least 2 of each.

They are less than 4"...and made along the same lines as the accessories for the purses....with craft foam inside to give them some firmness.

It's fun having little kids to make things for.

A Christmas Picture

Here is Penelope with her purse on Christmas. 

My cousin, Barb (pictured here with P) says she is excited over the coins....not realizing the value of paper money or plastic. hahaha

Unfortunately, her twin, Evangeline, was sick and couldn't share in the fun that morning.
