Batik Squares

I found this pattern on MQR. Cathy (cat-on-a-mac) showed it back in May, 2016. I got it pieced by February, 2017 and finally quilted it up.

It is 58x70

It used a lot of my batik scraps.

To make it a bit longer, I added batiks leftovers to the top and bottom.

Just winged it on the quilting, so it is a bit wonky, but you can't really tell from the front.

I put feathers in the top and bottom pieces.

Two different greens for the binding and Glide Light Olive for the top thread and So Fine off white for the bobbin.

Columns of Blue Selvages

I was scrolling through Pinterest back in August and saw this quilt that caught my interest. You can find hers for sale on Etsy at Kristin Blandford Designs.

I used a lot of blue selvages...cut at 6 1/2".  Sashing columns were cut at 3 1/2". It came out about 57x80".

Here's a close up

And closer yet

No matter how many selvages I use, there are always plenty left.

BooTacular Halloween top

I don't remember how I got to her site, but Sindy Rodenmayer is the designer of this quilt. You can find her .... and her patterns.... at fatcatpatterns.com  She has some really cool stuff.

It is 53x65".  I am going to add some crystals in the eyes after quilting. My cousin Mary will love this, she is a big Halloween junkie.

The eyeball sashing is from Mary's Halloween stash.

I seem to be in the Halloween mood these days. Usually i ignore that holiday.

St Louis Cardinals HSTs II

This is the second quilt that I have made using St Louis Cardinals fabrics. This one is for my cousin who had the surgery when i babysat her dog. I'll be mailing it to her tomorrow. I know she will love it.  It is about 57x73". I can see her in her recliner, watching the game, covered with this quilt.

I used the same pattern, but different fabrics.

close.jpg.a483191a3e8da0741e4dc9a595ff2f7e.jpg

Even the binding is baseballs.

the back is a brown fabric but the camera doesn't show that color for some reason.

I used Glide Ruby for the top and So Fine Brown for the bobbin.

I really need to get my rear in gear and get some tops quilted. the to-be-quilted cabinet is stuffed and the tops are now piling up around the studio. haha   i need a clone to quilt while i piece.

St Louis Cardinals HSTs

The recipient has received this quilt so i can now show it.

I made this St Louis Cardinals couch quilt for my cousin's BFF....who was with her every day at the hospital through her surgery...and every day at her therapy. And she kept all of us informed by text and email as to what was going on.

It is 56x72 and is just right for snuggling on the couch and watching the game.

The blocks are 8". The dark half of the block is brown.

Even the binding has baseballs.

The back is a beige fabric.

This is the board I used to quilt it.

Top thread is Glide Ruby and bobbin is So Fine Brown.

My longarm is making a horrid squeaking while traveling side to side. i have cleaned wheels and rails and that has not helped. i think tomorrow i will put a bit of oil on it to see if maybe things are too dry. i have oiled the machine, too. those quilting gremlins better come and fix this before i lose what sanity i have. maybe my table has gotten crooked. have to ask dh if he can check that.

Advanced I Spy

With all these new novelty fabrics that I acquired, I Spy quilts are a given. But, this time, I decided to make it a bit more challenging...thus, Advanced I Spy....for the older player.

It's about 65x80"

I paired a pieced I Spy block with a 'plain' fabric. then alternated the placement.

Some are easier to find than others. I tried to disguise the picture by making it small and adding fabrics around it that would blend in color-wise, but distract with busyness.

Got a fuzzy deer here

And, half a monkey face

I am currently cutting out more novelties for a 9 patch I Spy.

Orange I Spy

I don't have much orange fabric in my stash but I decided to use some on this I Spy quilt top.

I used dark orange and made 4 patches

I used a light orange print for the sashing around the 4 patches.

And used the same light orange print for a border, too.

It is about 50x60".

It's going in the cabinet...to be quilted....some day.
