Butterflies and Flowers

Another bunch of blocks became a top. I recently finished these machine embroidered and applique butterflies. the CD also had flowers, so I decided the butterflies needed some flowers, too.

I did several different butterflies and made 2 or 3 of each.

The backgrounds are made from selvages. i've been trying to come up with new ways to use selvages so this is my newest selvage thing.

The pink sashing and border is from the remnants of a wide backing that I had left over.

I made 22 blocks for some reason....guess I lost count of what I was doing. So, a butterfly and a flower made their way into the border.

I found a crazy butterfly print and it will be the back.

\

It's not too large...maybe 50 x 60".  It has found its way into the to-be-quilted cabinet. There is not much room left in there....maybe enough for 1 or 2 more tops....got to quilt faster.

Cindy's Raggedy Flowers

This quilt was pieced by my sister...and I quilted it for her. It's full of colorful squares and some raggedy flowers thrown in for good measure. I'm not sure, but it looks like the flowers were done on an embroidery machine. and she raveled the edges to make them cuter.

I did some curvy CC in the blocks and went around the flowers.

Blue border got meander. green border with butterflies got cross hatching every second row of butterflies.

Yellow border got wavy piano keys. all 4 sides has a different green border, so they all got different designs. this one has ferns.

Back is a dark green print

Quilt is 83" square. Top thread was Glide Key Lime and bobbin was So Fine dark green.

Now, on to a Christmas present quilt.

Cowboy Christmas

I am trying to piece together my UFOs that have all the blocks made already. On this one, i put together the cowboy christmas blocks along with the boot blocks. they all seem to go together.

I am using stash for sashings and borders.

They all have mylar in them, so they are sparkly.

I guess when Santa is in Texas, he uses horses instead of reindeer.

I think...if  i remember correctly, it is about 63x85".

I just love those boots.

This will be a Christmas present if I get it quilted in time. haha  I better leave it visible and not hide it in the to-be-quilted cabinet. it will stand a better chance of getting quilted sooner. i have a quilting plan, so hopefully soon.

Sew Preeti

There is a lady named Preeti that has some nice quilts on her blog.... sewpreetiquilts.blogspot.com  you might want to check her out.

This is one of her blocks. I got the middle fabrics at Jackman's at their last FQ sale. I had 5 of each...I wish i had a few more of them to make my top larger.

You can see 2 blocks that are 9 patches....those are the first ones that i cut --- incorrectly. haha   but i decided to use them in the top anyway.

There was only one thing in my stash that remotely went with the middle....it has the aqua in it, only lighter...so that was the border i needed to make it 60x68"

This was so quick and easy that I am going to make another one in a different colorway. i cut 2 blocks 8 1/2" square...set them both right sides up...cut a piece off the right side...and a piece off the left side. then cut the middle piece into thirds. switch the middle piece and there you have it. just sew the pieces back together.

You vary the sizes of the cuts that you make. I trimmed the blocks to 7" after sewing the pieces back together.

One block has a small 1/2" middle. haha   these are so cool.

I love this top. I have ideas for 2 more.

Meow

I found these cat fabrics on the Quilted Twins fabric site. they are so adorable. The fabric line is by Riley Blake and is called Meow. I just got it pieced September of this year, so it got quilted pretty quickly.

I did a sort of jelly roll thing...and then cut some sections to add borders to make it wider a bit. It is 54 x 69.

I used a Panto called Featheration by Meredith England.

If the front is too tame for you, just flip it to the back. haha

These blue and green eyed beauties are on flannel.

I used Glide Peach for the top and Bottom Line Statue in the bobbin.

Quackers

I got a duck panel from my friend, Sharon, so i had to do something with it. I cut them apart, pulled some fabrics that i thought worked, and put 2 rounds of borders on each block.

Then i put them all together

I found a manly looking fabric for the border in the stash. It was something i have been trying to use up for some time.

It only came to 48x60, so it might need another border. but that is a decision for another day. haha

Halloween Alphabet

In digging through all my projects, I found these alphabet blocks. I don't really love them, but they are all finished, so i might as well get them together.

I had to trim them all up to the same size. You have to like orange for this one. haha

Perhaps someone has a child who likes orange....or who was born on or near Halloween.

I'll get it quilted up and put it out for sale.

It is 42" x 48" ... so, kid size.

I probably won't be doing this one again. the embroidery CD needs to go for sale, too. haha

Need an alphabet that is Halloween themed?

Pumpkins Gone Wild

I'm in the 'finish 'em up' mode....so i finished piecing this top.

The Jelly Roll is called Pumpkins Gone Wild...designer is Sandy Gervais.

My top came out 50 x 66".  I had a few strips left....so it might get a strip border at some point.... who knows.

I got the idea from Debi on MQR, who showed one like it on October 11, 2018.

I cut the inserts 10.5" and cut the jelly roll strips starting at 4"....and went to 20" with a 2" increase on every cut ....then back and forth.

It was fun and fast .... the perfect top in my book.

Funky Fish

The last time  i went to a quilting vendor show, i bought an embroidery CD from a lady called Funky Fish. it was just too cute to pass up. and she was selling it for $15.

The background is flannel....as are the sashings and border.

The sashing fish came from the same fabric. i could cut the pink/orange fish for the horizontal sashings and the blue/green fish for the vertical. i like that.

These two are my favorites. i think he might be the guy that is mentioned a lot by the lady fish in the Me Too movement. hahahaha

And I believe you would find this one on the street corner.

They are all so adorable. Most of them have some applique. The top is 45 x 53.
