A Book .... A Home for Max

Max is a sad little dog that is currently living in his suitcase....searching for the perfect home.

Although he has a pillow...and his bone....a suitcase is just not a proper home.

He tried the frog....but it's just too wet

Mr. frog agreed

He went to the desert...it was just too dry

Mr. snake agreed

Max tried the garden...with the gopher...just too low and no sunshine in there.

Mr. gopher said there was no room and he didn't want to share his carrots.

He looked in the tree...but it was too high to jump up.

Ms. bird agreed and said Max needed wings.

He checked with Mr. Bear...but it was too big.

And who wants a bear for a room mate.

He looked in the house....and found a mouse hole...but it was too small. The cats tail is loose...as are the curtains

Mama mouse and her 2 babies said he wouldn't fit.

He checked out another tree....because Max likes trees...but it was too tight.

Mr. owl said he needs his sleep and doesn't want a room mate.

Then Max found it...and it was Just Right.

Max is now a happy dog.

This book is for little Vivienne. The hope is that she will stop running long enough to look at it.

A Home for Max

I have found the most wonderful book patterns on Etsy. I am making some books about a dog named Max.

This is Max

This is the cover. Poor Max is living in a suitcase until he finds a proper home.

He has looked high.....

And low.....  and not found the perfect home yet.

Some homes are just too big...and who wants a bear as a room mate.

Some homes are just too wet.... and frogs are noisy

Check out this cute frog...

All the little animals pull out of their homes....but are attached so they don't get lost.

I have a few more pages to finish yet. I am in love with Max and his books.

Jack's Ducks

My cousin with all the grandkids that I am making books for....just gained a 7th grandson. He was born early and is now 2 months old. His room is blue and yellow, so this is his quilt. His name is Jack. I made all the blocks and then drew it out on graph paper and sized the blocks to fit. It is 46x64.  I made the top section first and then made 3 columns of blocks.

The embroidery machine and I got busy. His name is at the top...that C should have been a different color.

I collect little rubber duckies and I thought they could keep Jack warm, too.

This one is just too cute.

Matching Game

You saw parts of this before, but it is now quilted. It is about 35x40. I SID around the blocks and the pics. I stitched over the top of the flap, to, hopefully, keep it laying properly without benefit of velcro. I did a scribble in the blue border.

Two 3s...just a couple of rows apart.

The matching cat....at the top...second row.

The back...something from the stash...from the Dick and Jane line.

Top thread was Glide Hawaiian Blue; bobbin was Bottom Line white.

Jack's Ducks

I got the duckie quilt top finished for the new baby in the family. He was born early and is probably still in the hospital....I haven't heard otherwise. But this will be quilted in the next week or two and on it's way to him.

His grandma told me that his room is blue and yellow, so this should blend right in. I put his name at the top of it. That silver C sort of blends in....oops.

The ducks are done on the embroidery machine...and are applique.

Jack will stay warm next winter.

Elementary Jelly Roll

I got this one off the frame today. Rainy, cold days are good for something. haha   The fabric line is called Elementary. It has marinated since September 23, 2015.

front.jpg.26da91a4ed2a43ee8fa048bf2e350116.jpg

I cut a section out and turned it around....then added some squares to the border. It's about 49x67

corner.jpg.585ed38cfc29ff9b12466f17adf058d5.jpg

That panto is hard to get circular without wobbles...and is rough on the eyes.

close.jpg.141b37afc395d1be708293d66664bd38.jpg

Glide Gold for the top and Bottom Line beige for the bobbin.  Backing was in the stash.

back.jpg.1cf78b89cafd45cd32f6803a49c70e19.jpg

Now I have loaded the little matching one...it shouldn't take long at all.

A Matching Game .... in quilt form

At first glance....it's just another cute quilt.

But, pull up that little square with the colored circles on it....and you find little pictures.

A brown fish...

A cupcake...

A green fish....

And, a dozen more.....two of each. the idea is to uncover two that match by just uncovering 2 blocks.

I think I will add velcro to the bottom of the flap. I'll decide after it is quilted. I tried putting the velcro sticky back dots on it, but the needle got all gummed up trying to sew them down. I think it needs something to hold the flaps down, otherwise once it gets folded and washed and thrown around, I don't think the flaps will stay down as well as they do now. I'm thinking on it.

It will go to my cousin Barb with the all the grandkids...another amusement to keep them busy.

Numbers Book

The numbers book was much easier than the alphabet book. 10 vs 26.  This one was done on the embroidery machine. I fused the pages together....but, if I do that again, I will add something inside the pages, as you can see through the fabrics. Always learning.

 Here is the front cover.

And, the pages. The monster is a cross stitch embroidery design...done by machine.

I found all the things for the book in my embroidery CDs.

The back cover.

Fusing makes the pages wrinkly. But, the spine got sewn with the sewing machine. Pros and cons with everything. I'm going to figure this all out.

Oh, and I am sending all 3 books in a book bag so Norah has something to drag them all around in.
