Dollhouse Quilt

The base for the dollhouse quilt is pieced. The instructions call for a border, but i'm not sure it needs one. presently, it is 42x53.  i will bind it in yellow.

Here it is without the pockets.

Some close ups...attic room; kid bedroom; sewing room

office...master

laundry; bath

kitchen

front door...living room

And, with pockets pinned on. they won't get attached permanently until after I quilt the base.

Attic

Kid's room; sewing room

Kitchen; front door

Laundry; bath

Living room

Office; master bedroom

The instructions call for really floppy pockets to put a stuffed animal in, but I am going to make them much less floppy.

Some pockets are a bit looser than others, depending on where the applique sets.

The pattern allows for 3 more rooms, but this one got made smaller.  it will get quilted soon....in a couple weeks.

Jasper's Train Quilt

After much fiddling and head scratching, I finally made a decision about this train quilt.

My problem was it was so narrow. ..  only 20 inches.  So, I added blue borders.

I was going to add the train fabric that i used for sashing as the border, too, but it was just too much.

So, this will have to do. It's for a little guy...almost 3...so he can drag it around and hopefully have some fun and snuggle with it at naptime.

I'm going to quilt it soon so i can get it to him.

Windmills on Selvages

I covered 12" blocks with selvages.....cut out some designs with the AccuCut machine and sewed them on. It is 60x72".

I tried doing all light colored selvages, but had to dip into colors to get it finished.

While I was in the city, I stopped at Jackman's for a FQ sale, and found a melon die.....which is what I wanted to use here. Now I have to make another quilt so I can use the melon die. I have the blocks cut out....just waiting for some gray fabrics that I ordered to cut the melons.

My Own Personal Retreat...part 2

Are you still with me?....there are more.  haha

This was a pattern in McCalls Quilting Feb. 2009.  Designed by Joyce Robinson. She called it Rickity Rack Feedsacks.  She put rick rack in the middle of the sashing rows but i skipped that part and just used a whole bunch of florals. I had all the pieces cut out already and a couple of rows pieced together, but it still took me all day to get it together. It is 82x92. It might need a border, too.

closer.jpg.bfb102a0fe014dbd3a7f856ad84b7145.jpg

Back to something simpler. I had the all the parts cut out and it just needed to be pieced. it is 56x70.  The animal fabric is upholstery fabric.

top.jpg.1b596086d8839bd25fd258952666aff8.jpg

I misjudged the border fabric, so had to add other fabrics to have enough.

And I had one elephant block left over, so i cut him down and added him to the border, too.

The cornerstones are tiny animal faces. haha

Under the Sea are machine embroidery blocks with Mylar in them, so they sparkle. I had the blocks made and just needed to piece it all together. It is 38x48.

top.jpg.365efd1b9fc0499cefa03e23c1caff8d.jpg

The blocks are pretty colorful, so i decided to jazz up the sashing with some color, too.

I have these pieces of fusible sea things from another project, that I am going to add to this quilt also.

That is all that I got completely finished, but I did start another pocket quilt. I put together as many pockets as I had. It's a pattern I saw on the Quilted Twins site. The pockets are the same widths in each column but heights don't matter. you just add fabric to the top or bottom of a column so they are the same size. The first 2 columns are 7" wide; the next one is 6" wide.

I did make a trip to Goodwill to look for more pockets. They had a sale going on blue tags...half price....so, I bought all the blue tagged shirts that had 2 pockets. I got 22 shirts. So, I probably have enough pockets to finish this quilt one day....and more tags for another quilt....and lots of fabric for who knows what.

And then I started this one, but it didn't get finished before I went home. It is a pattern in American Patchwork and Quilting April 2010. It is called Color Cues. I had all the pieces cut out. It will be 76x89

I got a couple of columns pieced together

And I have all the blocks pieced. This one went back into a bag and back on the shelve when I got home.

So, that is what I did with my week. Along with throwing toys for the crazy dogs, reading a few books, playing some computer games, and doing a small jigsaw puzzle. It was a good time.

My Own Personal Quilting Retreat...part 1

I spent a week at my sister's....babysitting her 3 dogs. I decided it was a good time to work on some UFOs, so I took many projects with me. There wasn't much to do beside feed dogs....take them outside for potty breaks....and sew.

Most days I got a top put together in a day. This one was from Ricky Tims back in 2017. It was a free pattern every month. There were 20 patterns, but I got bored and stopped at 12. It is 54x70. I had all the blocks finished, so it wasn't any problem to piece them together. Ricky calls it his Legacy quilt.

The butterflies are just fused down at this point.

1111339364_appliquebutterflies.jpg.ac4c747afc6a5e94d31b393d4775480d.jpg

I had some fabric with old cars on it...it was almost like canvas. i guess it is upholstery fabric. I already had the blocks made. The brown halves are selvages. It is 70x78. Just had to sew the squares together.

For about the last year, Molly Mine embroidery site has been putting out crazy quilt animals and I did them all. These blocks were finished and the sashing and cornerstone pieces were cut out, so I just had to piece them together. It is 52x64.

These red scraps were all cut out and just had to be pieced. I put 25 of them in a row. I had a few rows pieced together already. It is 60x76.

This pattern came from American Patchwork and Quilting, Feb. 2010. Designers are Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle. It is 84x92. They call it Band Together.  I had the bands already pieced, just had to sew all the pieces together.

top.jpg.c01d3d461de193e3a2c96b43aa0ba8ec.jpg

I might put a border on it before it gets quilted.

That's my first few days. Stay tuned for part 2. haha

Hola Mola

I've been working on these blocks since last year and finally finished embroidering the last of them and got the top together.

This is a pretty dull picture. the background fabric is a dark brown. I had the flash on my camera, so I don't know how that came out. i am not a camera person. haha I know, this top needs some serious pressing.

A close up.... hahaha   I see I have the turtle upside down.  sigh!!   always something

Some large molas...

And some small ones...

I really like these designs. They are from 2 different sets, but the same designer.

I made the top and bottom border twice as wide so the top would be rectangular rather than square. It is 58x68".
