My Own Personal Retreat...part 2

Are you still with me?....there are more.  haha

This was a pattern in McCalls Quilting Feb. 2009.  Designed by Joyce Robinson. She called it Rickity Rack Feedsacks.  She put rick rack in the middle of the sashing rows but i skipped that part and just used a whole bunch of florals. I had all the pieces cut out already and a couple of rows pieced together, but it still took me all day to get it together. It is 82x92. It might need a border, too.

Back to something simpler. I had the all the parts cut out and it just needed to be pieced. it is 56x70.  The animal fabric is upholstery fabric.

I misjudged the border fabric, so had to add other fabrics to have enough.

And I had one elephant block left over, so i cut him down and added him to the border, too.

The cornerstones are tiny animal faces. haha

Under the Sea are machine embroidery blocks with Mylar in them, so they sparkle. I had the blocks made and just needed to piece it all together. It is 38x48.

The blocks are pretty colorful, so i decided to jazz up the sashing with some color, too.

I have these pieces of fusible sea things from another project, that I am going to add to this quilt also.

That is all that I got completely finished, but I did start another pocket quilt. I put together as many pockets as I had. It's a pattern I saw on the Quilted Twins site. The pockets are the same widths in each column but heights don't matter. you just add fabric to the top or bottom of a column so they are the same size. The first 2 columns are 7" wide; the next one is 6" wide.

I did make a trip to Goodwill to look for more pockets. They had a sale going on blue tags...half price....so, I bought all the blue tagged shirts that had 2 pockets. I got 22 shirts. So, I probably have enough pockets to finish this quilt one day....and more tags for another quilt....and lots of fabric for who knows what.

And then I started this one, but it didn't get finished before I went home. It is a pattern in American Patchwork and Quilting April 2010. It is called Color Cues. I had all the pieces cut out. It will be 76x89

I got a couple of columns pieced together

And I have all the blocks pieced. This one went back into a bag and back on the shelve when I got home.

So, that is what I did with my week. Along with throwing toys for the crazy dogs, reading a few books, playing some computer games, and doing a small jigsaw puzzle. It was a good time.
