What a great weekend!

I went to my sisters on Friday and we checked out thrift stores...our favorite entertainment.  check out what i found at the Salvation Army  in St. Louis

It was just hanging there on the front of the rack. this quilt is bed size.  my eyes went straight to it and i went and snatched it up. i took it over to the furniture section and laid it out on a couch. guess what the price was....go, ahead....guesss.

Yep, that says three dollars and ninety-nine cents. it was coming home with me. i'm glad it was on the front of the rack....i don't always go and look what is hanging there.

It does need a bit of repair in some places. it is quilted in very small stitches but it was made in China. it had tags on it. but someone loved it and used it a lot. they did not quilt in the red rings or the red border. and there is not much quilting over the embroidered flowers.

There are some places that need repair. but it is mainly where the seams came apart...i think because it wasn't quilted in the red. i'm gonna fixt that up.

After i quilt down all the red parts...it's gonna be great.

None of the embroidery has any problems...which is surprising since it wasn't quilted over. so that is a good thing. i am very happy with my purchase. it is rare to find a quilt like this at a thrift store.

We also went back to the upcycle exchange place.....gosh, i love that place. i donated a box of fabric and a box of magazines. and took home a box of goodies. the plastic boxes that they have to fill up as you shop are about 15" square and about 12 inches tall. i pretty much filled mine up.

I got lots of embroidery thread...some of it silk. and lots of wool crewel thread. some small yarn balls...i like that...i didn't have to get a whole skein of yarn. lots and lots of fabric for crazy quilting. there were lots of sample pieces that i scored. i found buttons and beads and some waste canvas. gobs of trim and lace. the lace is now soaking in dye....good pieces for the crazy quilting. i found an unopened package of those little plastic 'bobbins' that you wrap your embroidery thread around. i looked through everything...we spent about 2 hours there. had a great time and came home with a bag stuffed full of goodies....and all for $20. i especially love that you can fill a box and pay $20 for it. actually you can pay what you would like....but they suggest 20. i am happy to pay that....i probably had a couple hundred in retail dollars. another good score.

Among other great finds were binders with plastic see through covers, a plastic magazine holder, a couple books, a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle, some plastic boxes with lids and 2 wooden spoons.

Great weekend...great fun.

Gotta go quilt now.

Later
