Judy's UFO Challenge for March

The number Judy pulled for March was 8....and here is what I got finished.

For the quilting, my #8 was Christmas Crazy Quilt blocks....this is a Molly Mine embroidery series. I seem to be doing a lot of Christmas things this month.

Here are closeups of a few of the blocks.

Other quilts that got finished this month were...

Famous Buildings of the World...paper pieced.....i like to challenge myself. haha

Pennies from Heaven .... wool applique

Woven, the Alphabet .... for my cousin's grand baby

Woven - Peter Rabbit .... for my cousin's other grand baby

The UFO piecing  #8 was Past and Present ... and it got pieced. It is dark and light browns with pink squares in the corners.

It was a wild and crazy month for piecing....I created quite a few new UFOs. haha

This is called Baltimore Brides Quilt. it is wool applique on black flannel. i don't know why the pattern used black, but i went with it. i have been working on these blocks for a while and finally got them all finished.

Flower baskets. another wool applique.

I Spy ... another quilt for my cousin with all the grand babies. i am in the middle of quilting this one at the moment.

New England Sampler .... another one that has been in process for some time and finally got finished.

Red String Blocks....just getting rid of some red strips.

String Theory...another that was in process for some time. do you see a pattern here? i work on several things at a time and then suddenly they all get finished at the same time.

This is called Urban Spaces. It is blacks, grays, and creams. found the pattern in a magazine. it was cut out quickly and pieced just as quickly. the quilting might be another story.

If you've been reading my blog lately, you have seen this. I am fusing a Welcome to the North Pole quilt. fun.

My embroidery UFO #8 was Molly Mine blue crazy quilt squares. there are 20 embroidery squares...the rest are just blues from the stash.

Here is one of the embroidery squares.

It was a busy month and now I am looking forward to the number that's pulled for April.

More North Pole blocks

Except for cutting out those TINY pieces, this quilt is so much fun to do. I dig through the big scrap box to find pieces of fabric. Only the large pieces like the houses have to come from fabric on the shelves. But, the pieces being so small means that i have only used a hand full of fabrics from the stash. sigh!! ... will i ever use up all this fabric?

Mr & Mrs Claus' house

Little trees ...  hmmmm, i didn't quite get that snow lined up properly. well, it will be hidden in the seam, so it is ok. haha

Elves' Recreation Center

 North Pole Carryout

Sprinkles Ice Cream Shoppe

I got all the little signs made.

For those who might want to know these things, this is the pen I used for the signs. Micron 01....found at Hobby Lobby.  Archival, permanent ink.

Three more blocks to go....i'll be putting them together today.

Red Strips

The red strip box is now empty...well, almost....i had 2 strips left. There are 42 blocks, 9" finished.

I use whatever I want to get rid of for the base to sew the strips to.

There are all different shades and widths.

Sometimes the strips are a bit wonky.

It's a good couch size. Now it has to marinate in the to-be-quilted cabinet....if i can find room in there.

Woven Alphabet

I finished the second baby quilt today. now i am all caught up until someone else decides to have a baby.

This is one of the Woven patterns that i pieced a couple months ago. It is about 45x60

I used the colors from the alphabet fabric for my choices. I used the Amaze Me panto.

The orange/pink background is actually tiny alphabet letters but i don't know if you can see it here.

The back is the same alphabet fabric as the main strips on the front.

This is such a great, quick baby pattern that I will probably be making more of them in the future.

I used Glide cotton candy for the top and So Fine dark pink for the bobbin.

Welcome to the North Pole

I felt the need to start even one more project....a Christmas project no less.   I have had this book sitting on my desk for several months.....just waiting till I HAD to do it. haha

I think I found this book at a book sale somewhere.....i've had it for a while.

There are 16 blocks in all.....I've fused half of them so far.

Welcome to the North Pole.  See that white piece pinned to the top right?.....that is going to be the sign that says Welcome that hangs from the post. I need to find a pen with a very fine tip to make all the signs for the shops. I figured I better try and make the sign before I fuse it in place....so I don't screw it up.  And there will be buttons and embellishments, too.

This is the Bakery. all the pieces pinned to the tops are the signs to be made.

The Marble Shop

Slick's Sleds

Stars at Night

From left, Hats and Mittens store, Candy Cane Factory, Toy Store

Reindeer and trees. Some of these pieces are T.I.N.Y.....this block is 6"

From left...Deliha's Doll House and Toms Cars and Trucks

All the background fabrics will be the same navy blue....and the snow will all be same if i have enough....hopefully. haha

It will be 40x52" when finished. It will be colorful and wild.

Sorry for the lousy pics....my picture taking ability sucks.

Crazy Quilt Blue Blocks

This is my UFO Embroidery Challenge for March. I had 20 crazy quilt blocks from Molly Mine to finish.....then i cut out 100 more blue fabric blocks.....put them together into 4 patches....and then pieced all those together into a top....and added a couple borders.

Here are a couple close ups. I used blue pieces that I just had a bit of to use up some stash.

Blocks are 7"

I love Molly Mine's crazy quilt squares....i have several of her series.

This series has a lot of flowers in it

I like that she always comes up with new designs in each series.

This is almost queen size and i hope to quilt it up next month so it can go on a bed.

Flower Baskets

This little wall hanger pattern came from my friend, Sharon. It originally had only 6 blocks, but i made 2 of each so it could be a bit larger. It is 31x47"

The pattern is from Wooden Spool Designs

I used a striped flannel for the background

And wool for the applique

In most of the duplicates, i used different colors for the flowers

I need another wool applique project....searching....searching.   haha
