Kay's quilt

This is the last of Kay's quilts.....with the embroidered blocks. she wanted red and green...but not Christmas. doesn't sound hard...does it?  huh...i worked months on trying to figure out what to do here. finally got a bunch of red and green fabrics....some of them Christmas actually....and cut the squares down until they all went together. finally used 2" squares.

It didn't get to queen size...but it was the best i could do. this quilt and i fought the whole way through. i just couldn't love it. i tried a dozen different scenarios and finally just went with simple. it was a nightmare for me...but it is done....and done is good.

There are about 20 different fabrics...the whole block is15"... each individual square was 2".

These are her original embroidered blocks. it's hard to make a large quilt with just 6 blocks.

brown sashing...little squares for border, green border, and floral border. i meant to bind with the green but used it for something else and wound up binding with brown. i never learn to keep all fabrics together until the project is done.

The back is a muslin. i used a clemantis panto on it.

So, my year of Kay quilts is finished and she got 4 quilts. she seems to like each one so i am glad for that. but i don't want to do this any more.

Now going to go quilt one of my selvage quilts....will show you...

Later
