Secession quilt by Laurie

This was this year's class quilt and pieced by my friend, Laurie. it was designed by my friend, Maralie.  the original pattern has 2 more borders, but Laurie decided to stop here so she could hang it on her wall. it is 63x79"

There are 4 applique cotton boll blocks in the center

And various blocks representing the seceeded states. here are some of my favorites.

Laurie's choice of colors is excellent

Lots of little pieces here

I really liked the setting triangles. we made a large block and cut it in half...diagonally.

This border called for applique swags. my version of this quilt is stalled out right here....gotta do all those swags. LOL  we decided on SID for the swags, feathers in the middle and piano keys on the outside. good choices, i think.

Cute little corners. i oriented the lines on the corners with the opposite corner of the middle of the quilt.

Back was a white muslin. i put a panto in the middle and custom border. thread in the border is a bit darker than the middle.

Panto is Plush Plumes by Golden Threads. Glide threads in the top; Bottom Line in the bobbin.

Now i can quilt up a couple of mine....next customer quilt is not due till August.  yeehaw!!

Later
