Comfort and Joy, section 8

I decided to do section 8 last night....it looked like a simple block...not many pieces. more cute crows

And i found this cute angel to put on the star. and i managed to get Christmas words on the 'branches' of the tree.

A jolly Santa for the middle of this log cabin block.

But then when i tried to put the pieces together...i had a problem.

The instructions and photo of setup both show background for tree to be cut 10.5" x 14.5" but that is too short. the pattern is taller than the background piece. i was doing this at the house and didn't want to go to the studio in the middle of the night to see if i had a piece of background fabric to make it larger, so i just went with what i had and put the pieces a little closer together.

I figured out i needed another 1.25" to make it match the other side.

So, this morning i found another piece and fixed the problem. not anything to worry about....but now i will look closer at everything before cutting out and fusing.

This is the second mistake i have found in this pattern and it makes me nervous. i hate to have to double check everything before cutting. and i have a second pattern from them, too. will have to remember to double check that one, too.

But i am still crazy about the quilt and it will be a cool Christmas quilt. have the snowman block to do next. will show you when finished...hopefully...

tomorrow
