2014 was pretty busy

I did a lot of sewing in 2014.

By April 25....i had emptied 175 spools. about half of these were not full...and some just had a bit. but they were emptied...and that counts.

By October 26....there were 77 more

And, today...December 31, 2014....there are 27 more. the largest spools are for quilting.

For a total of 279 spools emptied this year. that's a lot of sewing, folks.

And in the interest of quilting up everything in the to-be-quilted cabinet....i quilted 11 tops in December.

The goal is to have them all quilted by the end of 2015. and all those UFOs finished, too.

If you don't hear from me in 2015....i'm in the studio....feverishly working.

Hahahahaha

Happy New Year!

Animals on Wheels

OK...this is the last quilt for 2014....look out 2015. haha

I put two things together here. the machine embroidered blocks are called Animals on Wheels....the other animal blocks were from a Noahs Ark panel that i cut up for other things. these were left over, so i fused them on here. good thing to make the quilt a bit larger. this one is 54 x 62"

Pieced March 30, 2013; quilted December 31, 2014.

Bottom Line black on the back

Quiltazoid boards....large fat Es

Binding is the same fabric as the sashing...i think that was part of the Noah's Ark thing, too.

And the back. it is a darker blue/gray than it shows here.

This was a LOT of fun. there are a few blocks that don't have much, but that is all that i had at the time that i pieced it. i MIGHT think about adding a few things here and there....who knows.

I wonder how many alphabet quilts i have done.

Double Sided Alphabet quilt - front side

This one is a bit unusual....and i am going to do it in two posts....since there are way too many pictures for one post.

The blocks are 14"...i knew i had to make the blocks large to get all the stuff on there. i didn't think about how large the quilt would be. hahaha   so it became double sided.

Here is the front

And the first half of the alphabet..

If the letter stood for a color....like Blue...then i used that in the background, too.

Sometimes the background is for the letter, too....candy corn

So Fine champagne in the bobbin and a Glide that matched that color in the top. Quiltazoid boards that look like giant fat Es.

I made the border on the back side larger than the front so i could match it up easier. by the time i got to the bottom, i was only off less than 1/2"...not bad i don't think.  although all the things are fused on, i had stitched around them on the back side of the quilt. i didn't want anything to catch while quilting. some were done by hand and some by machine. now i am thinking that i need to stitch around the ones on the front, also. it will be a little trickier since it is quilted....that will be my evenings hand work for the next week or so. i had originally thought that i would quilt around everything on the front and then realized that really wouldn't work well because of the back...duh!  so, time to do a little hand work.

Stay tuned for side 2

Blue and White Country

This is just child size...48x60"....but it took over a year to finish.  pieced 12/18/13...quilted 12/30/14

Half of the blocks are machine embroidered...

Top thread was a light blue Glide; bobbin was a So Fine aqua

Quilted with the baptist fan boards again...just because they were still on the table and i was too lazy to change to something else....and they go fast. haha
